Weddings that Celebrate All Couples
We are privileged to be a tradition that blesses all couples as they make lifetime commitments to each other. Our minister officiates at both heterosexual and homosexual couples’ ceremonies. He also helps couples from different religious backgrounds(or no religious backgrounds) design a celebration that honors couples’ diverse beliefs. All services are designed in close collaboration with and uniquely for each couple. Couples do not have to be married at the church.
In addition to our minister, Rev. Scott Tayler, we can connect you to a number of area Unitarian Universalist ministers.
The fee for ministerial services is $350-450 depending on such things as the need for a rehearsal and distance from Canandaigua.
While he will officiate at the ceremony and witness the spiritual aspect of the ceremony, Rev. Tayler is not currently signing legal marriage licenses as an act of conscience in protest of New York state law that refuses the rights of marriage to gay and lesbian couples. This means that couples working with him will need to go to a judge to
have the legal part of their marriage completed.
